A Taste of Fresno

Fresno | California

Unicorn macarons exist and they are incredibly delicious! Order a batch from Michelle Johnson at Sunshine and Sugar! A half dozen costs $18 and you can choose from over 25 flavors. We went for the Earl Grey, but Michelle sweetly included a couple of Salted Caramel for us (thank you again!!). Michelle works out of her certified home kitchen, which has recently been remodeled, in Clovis. She's been in business for around 1 year, but has been baking forever. You can pick up your order or have it delivered in the area for $2.50. Even those the macarons are a crowd favorite, be sure to also try the pie pops (her favorite thing to make).

If you wanna enjoy a cold on with some cool locals, check out The Spokeasy. This little dive has a chill vibe, small space, and great beer selection — not many on tap, but endless bottles. They offer a nifty Beer It Forward board, if you want to buy a drink for your friend in the future. Ben - part owner / bartender - was super friendly and acknowledgeable about the Fresno and their offerings. We chose to have a local beer - California 99 Golden Ale (a whooping $3) from Tioga Sequoia Brewing.

We made friends with some locals at the bar who highly suggested checking out the Gazebo Gardens. This beautiful spot offers several options of food trucks, as well as a place to purchase beer and listen to live music. We chowed down on a Lime Cilantro Chicken Bacon Quesadilla from Gorilla Quesadilla. SO GOOD.

For dessert, we hopped over to Ampersand Ice Cream. This bright, tiny spot offers a ton of unique flavors. Of course, we went for the Whiskey Caramel Swirl which was absolutely delicious!
